Prof. XU Boling

Xu Boling is currently a professor in Institute of Acoustics, Nanjing University and a doctoral tutor. In 1968, he graduated from Nanjing University specializing in acoustics under the supervision of academician Prof. Wei Rongjue, and received a master's degree. Then he was sent to the University of South Florida by the government and studied in Department of Electrical Engineering from June 1985 to December 1986, engaged in the research on digital signal processing. From February 1992 to November 2001, he served as a deputy director of the Department of Electronic Science and engineering, Nanjing University, deputy director of the Institute of acoustics, and deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of modern acoustics. He mainly engaged in voice research, sound signal processing and electrical acoustic research, and he published more than 100 papers. He has presided over 5 National Natural Science Foundation projects and 1 National Natural Science Foundation of international cooperation and exchange projects. He won the third-class prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award three times, the first-class prize for Technology Progress of the Ministry of Electronics once , the second-class prize for Technology Progress of the Ministry of Electronics three times and the National Science Conference award once , and he enjoys the special government allowance.


He is the former deputy director of Chinese Institute of electronics audio engineering society. From 1998 to 2001 he served as an expert for the fund evaluations of the Information Department of National Natural Science. Now he is an expert for the project evaluations of the National Natural Science Foundation, a member of the China National Committee for Terms in Acoustical Sciences and Technologies and a fellow of Acoustical Society of Chinese.
